ღ the rules
I know, I know, the evil rules. Everyone hates them. But we really need them, don't we? If we didn't have them, there'd be chaos. Which, [if you didn't already catch this], would be bad. Very bad. Anyway, they're pretty easy to follow, so you won't have a hard time. =)
general
Respect. Respect everyone - the staff, your fellow members and even the guests. I won't tolerate any fighting [unless it's in character] or any harsh words spoken to other members.
Make sure you register with your character's first and last name. It's not a huge deal if you don't, but we would like it if you did. Make sure your display name is your character name, though. That is necessary.
The rating on Brownwood Prep is basically PG-13. This means that in character cursing is tolerated, and some out of character cursing [if used for expression] but not much. And absolutely no cursing at other members.
Please don't advertise anywhere other than in the advertisement board [located in the OOC board]. This is considered spamming, which isn't tolerated on the board. Other forms of spamming are random letters and numbers in a post, posts less than 2 words and posting unnecessary things in the OOC or IC boards.
Make sure your avatars are no bigger than 100 x 100 pixels, and your signatures don't stretch out the page. If someone has a complaint about the size of someone else's signature, we'll take it under consideration.
roleplaying
Please, don't post in the face claim before your application is accepted. You can reserve a celebrity, though, but only for ten days. If your application hasn't been accepted by then, another person could claim your celebrity.
Remember to write in the third person when roleplaying. I mean that you have to write like this: He walked along the road, and not I walked along the road.
Make sure you use correct grammar when roleplaying. No text talk, please. It is allowed in the IM, e-mail and cell phone/text messaging boards, though. Just not anywhere else. A bit in OOC is fine, but please, not when you're truly roleplaying.
That being said, we do have some standards on how many words you must write. Please, try and write a good paragraph (5 sentences). Even two paragraphs - or more. It may seem hard, but it's really more enjoyable for everybody. The codeword is monk, so be sure to put that in your application.
Of course, no god-modding or powerplaying is allowed. This means that you can only control your character, and that your character can't be perfect. They need flaws.
Since the forum is rated PG-13, we would appreciate it if nobody would write graphic scences. Please 'fade to black' if necessary.
Before you create a second [or third, or fourth, or fifth] character, you must have 10 good in character posts. If you want to create a third character, you must have 10 good IC posts for your second character. This goes on until your 5th character, which is the character limit.
One character can only be in four threads at once. If you want to leave a thread, you can just make a formal exit. If your thread has become inactive, you can contact a staff member and ask them to move it to the archives board.
cbox
Please, don't spam the cbox.
Don't fight or swear [too much], please. It's a major turn-off, and just not allowed.
No advertising. Putting your forum where your name is would be fine, but don't direct people to it. If you want to advertise, do it in the advertising board.
